Webinar
Comparing Single Use Neo and Stainless Steel
Capacitance Probes for CHO Processes
Webinar Overview:
This webinar explored the comparison between single-use Neo and stainless steel capacitance probes for mammalian cell culture applications, with a specific focus on CHO processes in single-use bioreactors.
As single-use bioreactors become increasingly adopted across the industry, advancements in single-use probe technology enabled fully closed processes while reducing preparation time, operational complexity, and installation risk. In this session, we examined how single-use capacitance probes performed alongside traditional stainless steel probes and the value they brought in delivering real-time insights into cell health and culture performance.
Our guest speaker, Victoria Stabile, Senior Scientist at Merck, presented a direct comparison of the ABER stainless steel capacitance probe and the single-use Neo probe within a 50L Thermo single-use bioreactor running a CHO process. She shared her findings demonstrating signal comparability across multiple frequencies and discussed how capacitance data compared with offline cell density and viability measurements.
By joining this webinar, attendees gained insight into how modern single-use capacitance probes could support robust monitoring strategies, enable reliable cell growth models, and reduce sampling burden while maintaining confidence in process performance.
The session included the following:
- A comparison study of Neo and stainless steel probes in a CHO single-use bioreactor process
- Correlation of capacitance data with offline cell density and viability measurements
- Discussion on reducing sampling requirements through reliable capacitance-based models
- A brief live Q&A
